Each March, CHSRA heads to Plymouth, California, for the Challenge of Champions, one of our three major state events of the year. All nine CHSRA districts send their top three competitors in each event to the Amador County Fairgrounds for a weekend of championship rodeo. These talented athletes compete for the honor of taking home a Challenge of Champions title.
Rain, shine—or whatever March decides to bring—the rodeo goes on! The weekend is filled with great competition, jackpots, dances, and plenty of opportunities for our CHSRA families from across California to come together. The Challenge of Champions begins with one Long Go, divided between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. The Top 10 competitors in each event advance to Sunday's Short Go, where our Challenge of Champions are crowned.
The weekend also includes CHSRA's quarterly State Board Meeting, where state and district leadership come together to prepare for our Junior High State Finals in May and High School State Finals in June.
A special thank you to Craig Williams, who produces this rodeo each year, along with the local sponsors and community partners who help make this event possible, including Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort and the City of Plymouth.
