Shaylene Smith
District 2 Queen
Hello everyone, my name is Shaylene Smith and I am your current 2011-2012
Miss CHSRA District 2 Rodeo Queen. I am 17 years old and a Senior at Potter
Valley High School. I am so proud to represent the wonderful Northern California
coastal counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma, Marin, and
Napa. In High school rodeo I compete in Barrel Racing and Pole bending alone
with the queen contest. I have had such a wonder 3 years getting to know the
great families and friends of district 2. Then getting the opportunity to go to
Bishop California for the California State Finals, what a life changing
experience. I had such a great time with my district and the other queens
getting to know the community of Bishop. I would also like to congratulate the
contestants that made it to the High School Rodeo National Finals. I wish all
the families and contestants a wonderful and safe 2011-2012 rodeo season. Lets
Rodeo!

Tay Creeks
District 3 Queen
Hi,
My name is Tay Creeks. I’m your Miss CHSRA District 3 Queen. District 3 ranges
from Yuba, Nevada, Placer, Sutter, El Dorado, Yolo, Solano, Sacramento, and
Sierra Counties. I am a 16 year old junior at Golden Sierra High School. I am
the first Rodeo queen from my town/ high school. Along with the Queen Contest, I
compete in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Goat Tying. I had an amazing time in
Bishop, getting the chance to meet the girls and get to see the lovely town.
Bishop really made me feel at home. The community and chamber of commerce really
made my visit to Bishop life changing, giving me the chance to go around to
every local business that helps make state finals happen for high school rodeo.
Being District 3’s Queen is like a dream. I’m getting to know every one so much
better, and making a rodeo family. District 3 really is a family and community
oriented Rodeo Group. I wish every one the best of luck that is going on to
compete at Nationals. Go Thundering 3! “ Champions are not those who never
quiet, but those who never give up- District 3 motto.”
Jade Katen-Ynzunza
District 4 Queen
Hello, proudly representing D4 “The Fantastic Four” and Counties all along the
Central Coast my name is Jade Katen-Ynzunza. I am 15, a sophomore at Gilroy High
School, and a 3rd year member of the California High School Rodeo Association.
When I’m not out being queen, riding horses, or at a rodeo I am usually working
hard in school or at an FFA function. I compete in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending,
and Goat Tying. My family and friends have provided me with great support and my
horse has given me all of his heart so I can pursue my dream of being a rodeo
contestant and rodeo queen. I am very proud and honored to represent such a
great organization that gives us opportunities to meet new people, expand our
horizons, and create some memorable moments. I wish everyone a great and safe
year down the rodeo road!
Katelin New
District 5 Queen
Miss California High School Rodeo
Hello everyone. My name is Katelin New and I am proud to represent the District 5 Big Dogs. I am 16 years old and live in Oakdale, California where I currently attend Oakdale High School as a junior. This will be my third year competing for high school rodeo in goat tying and breakaway roping. High School Rodeo is my passion and I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy my years as a high school student. District 5 covers eight different counties including Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced, Tuolumne, Amador, Alpine, Calavaras, and Mariposa County. High School Rodeo opens many doors, promotes good sportsmanship, and introduces students to life-long friends. It gives students great opportunities for scholarships, leadership experience, and to promote this country's western heritage. I hope to spread the awareness of District 5 and the love for the rodeo lifestyle. So come join us on the rodeo road.

Hi my name is Kimmy Ferrante and I’m proudly representing District 7 for the 2011-2012 rodeo season. The Magnificent 7 covers the beautiful southern coast of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. I am fifteen years old, live in Somis, California and am currently a sophomore at Newbury Park High School. This is my second year as a member of High School Rodeo and I compete in Girls Cutting, Breakaway Roping, Goat Tying and Barrel Racing. Along with rodeo, I enjoy training and riding horses at my ranch and competing in Cutting and Reined Cow Horse competition. Being given the title Miss District 7 is an honor I never would have expected, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to support my district this year as Queen. Competing in the sport of rodeo offers a learning and bonding experience for all those involved and it is a privilege to be a part of such a great organization. I cannot thank everyone enough for all the support that they give to my amazing district. Good luck to all the rodeo competitors for a wonderful and successful year!
All for one and one for all,

District 8 Queen
Well District 8, I don’t think State
could have been any more fun! I was
so proud to represent us as we all
gave it everything we had in every
event. We even won the judged Grand
Entry, which wouldn’t have happened
without the help of everyone…so
THANK YOU!of you that are going to Nationals, I wish you the best of luck and I know
you’ll show them all what the Great 8 has in store for them! It was so exciting
meeting and hanging out with many of you at State, a lot of you helped me so
much that week, making things so much easier for me. I plan on representing
District 8 anywhere I can, making sure people get the word that we are the best
High School Rodeo team there is. So far I’ve already been to the Ramona Rodeo
and I will be attending the Poway rodeo and any other PRCA rodeos that I can.
I’m doing anything I can to remind the Professional world of Rodeo that we are
the future of rodeo and we are something they aren’t going to want to miss out
on! For all the new comers to CHSRA…be ready to have the ride of your life! Be
ready to sit hard in that seat, keep your chin up and never forget to keep
pushing!
Your 2011-2012 District 8 Queen,
Alexis Awrey ;D
Sabrina Jasper
District 9 Queen
Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to rodeo? It is time to kick off another
great rodeo season with the Dynamite Nine. District 9 covers Inyo and Mono
counties, also including parts of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Kern
counties; however, we welcome any students wanting to participate in this great
sport of rodeo. The California High School Rodeo Association is not associated
with any particular school. However, to rodeo there is a mandatory grade check
and if multiple unsatisfactory grades or a GPA lower than 2.0 is found, the
student will not be allowed to participate. Events offered to participate in
are: for boys, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, boys cutting,
saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, and bull riding; for girls, breakaway
roping, goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing, team roping, girls cutting, and
the queen contest. I would like to encourage anyone even just thinking about
rodeoing, in the high school or jr high division, to go for it! The NHSRA,
CHSRA, and District 9 has given me so many wonderful opportunities such as
meeting new friends, learning new rodeo events, and the chance to compete at
California’s state finals. We encourage everyone to come out to a rodeo and join
the fun. We have 8 rodeos a year between Johnny Zamerzla’s Flying Rafter Z Ranch
in Lancaster and the beautiful Bishop fairgrounds. District 9 is a friendly,
family oriented district, and we always encourage and help each other to learn
and try new events. It is our pride to see fellow students compete, succeed, and
achieve personal glory. I am Sabrina Jasper, your 2011-2012 Miss CHSRA District
9 Queen. I am 17 years old and a senior at Excelsior Education Center. Pinon
Hills is where I am proud to call home, in the beautiful high desert of sunny
Southern California. This is my 4th year in the CHSRA and the second time I have
been honored to represent the CHSRA as a District queen. My rodeo events include
goat tying, team roping, breakaway roping, girls cutting, pole bending, barrel
racing, and of course the queen contest. In my spare time I like to swim with my
horses, trail ride, head, heel, and calf rope, play volleyball, ride in
gymkhana’s, and have bonfires with my friends. I would like to thank my many
sponsors for all their support in helping me achieve my dreams. Also, my
parents, Deborah Jasper and Noel Cook for your coaching to get me to the point I
am in the arena, and the love and generosity you supply to my life. The District
9 adult officers, with out your hard work and dedication our rodeos would not be
run so smoothly and enjoyable. All parents and “friends” of District 9, with out
your support the rodeo year would not be so successful. I have had a wonderful
year with D9 and look foreword to another great year as your Dynamite 9 Rodeo
Queen.
