The CHSRA was founded in 1970. Its aims are the development of sportsmanship, horsemanship, and character in the
youth of our country.
To be eligible to join the California High School Rodeo Association, you must be enrolled in high school or attending schools
which apply to high school credits. You must be in good standing and meet grade point and conduct requirements in both the
National and California High School Rodeo Associations. Our Rodeo season is from September thru May, with Finals in June.
Your high school does not have to recognize rodeo as a school sport. If no one else in your school is high school rodeo, or
you don't know them, you can still join by calling the District Membership Secretaries listed below in your appropriate District.
California is divided into Nine Districts by counties. The location of the high school that you attend determines which district
you would join. The district numbers and the counties they include are:
Riverside, Orange, Imperial, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Bernardino (Lines are south San Bernardino, south
of mountain ranges - Calico Mt., Soda Mt. and Shadow Mt., Los Angeles County south of San Gabriel Mt. range
from Tejon to San Bernardino. Membership Secretary: Jana Muth 951-514-6766
Mono, Inyo and San Bernardino (Line is from Tejon Pass along San Gabriel Mt. range to San Bernardino,
including Antelope Valley). Membership Secretary: Pam Belzil 661-722-8488
In June, each District sends the top five contestants, in each event for the year, to the State Finals Rodeo.
This year the State Finals will be held in Bishop, California, from June 10th thru the 16st , 2012. Then the top 4 in each event will move on to Nationals, to represent California in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
