The California High School Rodeo Association (CHSRA) was created to give high school students the opportunity to participate and compete in this unique and challenging sport. Although not recognized by high school athletics, the CHSRA offers a program that sets high school rodeo apart from other varsity sports in that athletes compete on a level comparable to collegiate and professional rodeo competitors. CHSRA is an independent student athletic association--governing itself without supervision of school administrations or assistance from tax dollars. Members are fully insured, supervised and guided by adult experts. Competitors have the opportunity to earn scholarships for post-secondary education.
CHSRA members may compete at approximately 20 rodeos and a state championship, with the top four contestants in each event qualifying for the National High School Finals Rodeo held annually in July. More than 100 students are participating members of CHSRA.

The top four winners in each event at the State Finals qualify to go to the NHSRA Finals Rodeo in July. Those who place fifth through tenth qualify to go to the Silver State International Invitational Rodeo in Fallon Nevada over the 4th of July weekend. We also have the Challenge of Champions Rodeo that is held in March every year. The top three competitors from each district in each event, at the end of February's rodeo qualify to go.
